Jack White & Yuseff Cherney built Ballast Point into a San Diego craft beer name — then they started taking whiskey from the devil. Four years in virgin American oak. California single malt before that meant anything on a label.

"I know they don't exist anymore, but back when Youseff was in charge, they made some really good stuff. So, this is their single malt. They helped to put single malt as an American category."

Ballast Point Devil's Share — pour it neat and respect what they started.

Father's day.

Cocktail Friday. No shaker. No simple syrup. Sugar cube, bourbon, fresh-squeezed lemon, stir it down, pour it in a pre-frosted highball. "This isn't a fancy-ass cocktail. It's just for me."

This one's mine. Hunt down the other on Swig & Ramble Go find 'em.
2 oz Bourbon · 0.75 oz Fresh Lemon Juice · 0.75 oz Simple Syrup (1:1) · 1 Egg White (optional) — If using egg white: dry shake first, then shake with ice. Fine strain.

Well hello everybody, happy tasty Tuesday a little hatozaki Japanese whiskey to Very clean, very soft. That's not a bad idea. I mean you can see that it's not very dark, which is good because they're not trying to fake the color.

Honest Japanese whisky that doesn't hide behind fake color.

Yes, Bourbon Day!

Nailed it! Love a good Bourbon.

Bourbon was what got me into whiskey beyond Scotch. Let's celebrate this American whiskey steeped in immigrant traditions.

We should thank the Arabs for distillation the Irish and Scotch for turning it into whiskey and the pioneers of early America who helped to create this nectar of Oak and corn and time!
