Now seeking a Native Foodways Manager to join our team!

Join The Cultural Conservancy’s flagship Native Foodways Program and our growing Land Stewardship work on our two land sites, Heron Shadow and Indian Valley Organic Farm & Garden. Through these programs, we engage in local, regional, and national work in Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK), Native farming and agricultural sciences, seed sovereignty, Indigenous ethnobotany, and community food justice work.

The Native Foodways Manager is a key full-time position that manages and coordinates the design, development, and implementation of the Foodways Program, as well as working to support our growing Land Stewardship work and programming at Heron Shadow. The Foodways Program Manager reports directly to the Chief Program Officer (CPO) and works in close collaboration with the Farm Manager and Land Team. This position is focused on program management and administration with key areas of responsibility that include: educational and community programming and events, regional food distribution and food justice collaborations, and supporting national and international Native Foodways networks.

Maybe you’ve joined Slow Books for our read-along programming for “How to Be An Antiracist” or “Braiding Sweetgrass,” or perhaps this will be your first read-along. Either way — we’re glad you’re here!

We owe deep thanks to four departing Slow Food International Councilors: Jennifer Breckner, Denisa Livingston, Tiffany Nurrenbern and Kathryn Lynch Underwood. They have been incredible liaisons between the Slow Food movement here in the US and across Turtle Island and our leaders and activists from around the world.

As last month's International Congress ended in Pollenzo, Italy, so too did their terms of service to Slow Food. We are grateful for their work to collaborate across cultures, continents and contexts. Please join us in celebrating Kathryn, Tiffany, Denisa and Jennifer — and enjoy this photo of them with Slow Food Founder Carlo Petrini!
