POV: I think I just found the best hot chicken in the Bay Area.

I finally made it to JoJo’s new brick-and-mortar location, and after one bite I was completely hooked.

The chicken is ridiculously crispy, properly spicy, perfectly seasoned, and somehow still incredibly juicy. The house sauce is absolute magic. But can we talk about the fries? These might genuinely be the best seasoned fries I’ve ever had.

What makes this even crazier is that JoJo’s started as a food truck. Now they’ve got a permanent home, and they’re absolutely crushing it.

Hot chicken spots are popping up everywhere, and I’ve tried more than a few. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, comes close. When it comes to flavor, quality, portion size, and value for money, this place wins on every level.

10/10. No notes. I’m already planning my next visit.

POV: I think I just found the perfect way to spend a Sunday.

It was one of those brutally hot Pleasanton afternoons where the only sensible thing to do is find some ice cream and forget about life for a while.

So Ramsey and I headed to Meadowlark Creamery.

We tried the classic vanilla cone, the peaches and cream, and a pineapple swirl that would slap a Disney Dole Whip around the face and demand respect.

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized the best food memories aren’t always made in fancy restaurants. Sometimes they’re made standing in the sunshine with your kid, sticky fingers, melting ice cream, and absolutely nowhere else you need to be.

The ice cream was fantastic. The company was even better.

These are the moments that remind you what life’s really about.

I’ll admit it… I usually avoid restaurants in major tourist areas.

But every now and then, one surprises you.

📍The Codmother Fish & Chips in San Francisco served up some seriously good fish and chips. The batter was crisp, light, and packed with flavor, and for a moment I thought we were about to have proper chips too. Close… very close.

The fish was the star of the show, cooked perfectly and exactly what you want from a classic fish and chips spot.

POV: I think I just found one of the best pizza slices in the Bay Area 🍕

I’ve eaten a lot of pizza across California, but the Sweet Gino from Slice House genuinely stopped me in my tracks. Crispy base, unreal flavor, and somehow every bite got better. One of those slices where you immediately start planning your next visit before you’ve even finished eating.

Mountain View might be hiding one of the best pizza spots in the Bay. Have you tried this place yet? 👀

POV: I reviewed this spot a couple months ago and I genuinely have not stopped thinking about it since.

Heritage House Whiskey & Chop House absolutely knocked it out of the park.

The smash burger was unreal.
The spicy ahi tuna appetizer with rice, cucumber, avocado, tamarind soy sauce, and crispy fried leeks was next level.
The brown bread was perfectly moist, the house made chips were killer, and the wedge salad with ribeye was one of the best things I’ve eaten this year.

Then came the crème brûlée bread pudding situation… and honestly I’m still emotionally recovering.

Washed it all down with a Bloody Mary and a lemon drop that were both spot on.

But what really stayed with me was the service. The whole team made it feel like they genuinely cared about every single table in the room, and you can feel that the second you walk in.

Some restaurants feed you.
Some restaurants stay in your head for months.
This one did both.

POV: I think I just found one of Fremont’s most underrated burger spots 🍔

I’ve eaten burgers all over California, and Billy Roy’s Burger Co. keeps pulling me back for one reason… consistency. The Haystack and the Cattle Smash both absolutely delivered, but honestly? The fries might be the real star here. Crispy, salty, dangerous. Fried zucchini was a sleeper hit, onion rings held their own, and bonus points for those Arizona Arnold Palmer tall boy cans… that’s elite behavior. Even the kids’ chicken strips were a win.

POV: I think I just found one of the best fish and chips spots in California.

Tucked inside King’s Road Chippy at Cali Co Motor Club in Monterey, this is the kind of place that makes a British person emotional.

Proper golden battered fish. Thick chippy chips. The kind that actually crunch. No skinny fries pretending to be chips here.

As someone who’s reviewed fish and chips all across California, I can tell you this one is the real deal. Authentic, comforting, and dangerously easy to fall in love with.

Even better? It’s only served on Sundays, which somehow makes it feel even more like finding buried treasure.

If you’re anywhere near Monterey, this one deserves a spot on your list.

Jeni’s Gooey Butter ice cream just became our forever flavor — and the fact that it’s completely gluten-free? Game changer. 🙌
This isn’t “pretty good for gluten-free.” This is just straight-up incredible ice cream that happens to be gluten-free. Rich, creamy, with that nostalgic gooey butter cake flavor in every single bite. We are OBSESSED.

POV: I can’t gatekeep anymore…

This ice cream has ruined every other pint in my freezer.

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams Ooey Gooey Butter Cake is ridiculous. Rich, buttery, dangerously creamy, with little pockets of sweet cake that make you question every life decision that led you to basic vanilla.

I’ve eaten my way across California and somehow… this grocery store pint might be one of the most offensive acts of deliciousness I’ve found.

If you see it, buy it.

Don’t think. Don’t hesitate. Just commit.

POV: I think I just found one of the best burgers on the California coast 🍔🌊

I went to Johnny’s Harborside expecting seafood… and left thinking about that burger.

Genuinely top 3 burgers I’ve ever had. Juicy, rich, perfectly balanced, the kind of burger that makes you stop talking after the first bite.

And then the lobster roll? Chef’s kiss. Buttery, fresh, packed properly, no nonsense.

Sometimes the plot twist on a harborside menu is the burger stealing the whole show.
