Our page has been quiet this past week, because we have been grieving, processing, and navigating the devastating loss of our beloved friend, sister in Christ, and farm class teacher, Erin Gardener. We have waited to post this because the reality of her absence is simply so painful to put into words.
Erin was a bright light in our ministry. She loved deeply, taught passionately, and left an undeniable impact on every life she touched. As we try to wrap our minds around a world without her, our hearts break especially for her two beautiful children, June and Cody.
In this season of heavy grief, we are reminded of why God gave us community.
In Mark 2, we see the story of four friends who were desperate to get a paralyzed man to Jesus. The walk was long, the streets were crowded, and the house was packed. But they were committed. They even dug a hole through a mud roof just to lower him down to Christ's feet.
That is what biblical community looks like. Life can be hard, overwhelming, and complicated. Doing life together means living in a community committed to carrying each other’s mats.
Throughout life, our personal “mats” are filled with heavy things—grief, anxiety, and heartbreak. We are all carrying something, but scripture reminds us we shouldn't do it alone. Galatians 6:2 says, “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
Right now, our ministry family is committed to carrying the mat for Erin’s family. We want you to know that if you are mourning, hurting, or feeling overwhelmed, this community is here for you. We are here to pray together, cry together, and lift each other up just as 1 Thessalonians 5:11 commands us to do.
Let us love like Erin did, and let us carry one another toward the healing arms of Jesus.
