Passing on a unique opportunity to give back to our great community!
A fun day in San Juan Capistrano
The Swallows Day Parade is March 21, 2026
And we need your help
The Swallows Day Parade combines numerous walking/marching groups, equestrian groups, and bands. This year, we want to put groups of 3-4 fun and helpful people ahead of each band in the parade to shovel up the relatively few surprises that the horses may have left in their path. It’s an important job and we encourage groups to do it with style, dress as rodeo clowns, elves, chickens, or whatever theme is fun for your group. At the end, the group with the best style will win an award. All the groups should have fun and we’ll thank you with some premium San Juan Capistrano SWAG. If your group is from a business or group that would like to promote itself, we will include a promo for you in the announcers’ script along with our thanks.
The parade route is 1.6 miles, we will provide each group with a shovel, broom, and bin. The parade goes from 11am to 1pm. Most likely, each group will encounter fewer than 20 piles in the 1.6 mile route.
We also welcome volunteers either individually or in groups for fixed locations at the parade start during the parade and for our staging areas after the parade. These positions have less walking and more shoveling and are not part of the style contest. Naturally, they still have our sincere thanks and our incomparable San Juan Capistrano SWAG.
