Miramar Vineyards was created from the vision of owner Ed Castro. At that time there were no vines, no bocce ball court, outdoor seating, picnic or covered patio area as exists today. After 8 years, Ed planted his first vines. While waiting for the vines to mature, Ed sourced fruit from local vineyards within the Santa Clara Valley. Five different varietals are grown on the property: Syrah, Caber
net Sauvignon, Petite Verdot, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The vines collectively make up 5 acres of the 10 acre property. Ed deliberately holds on to each wine for a few years realizing the importance of aging and allowing for bottle shock to settle down. This extra time allows the wine to be enjoyed as it was envisioned in the barrel. We use American and French oak barrels. Miramar Vineyards produces small batches of quality wines reflective of our local fruit. Our wines are balanced with good acid and low tannins and can be enjoyed now.
