Dear Chill Spot family,

On Wednesday, June 17, we'll be open during our regular hours of 4:00 PM–9:00 PM, with a brief pause in service from 6:00 PM–7:15 PM.

As we continue building our team, our owner, Maggie de Vera, will be serving guests throughout the day and will step away briefly to teach her evening class before returning to the café.

We know schedule adjustments can be inconvenient, and we truly appreciate your understanding. Every decision we make is guided by our commitment to creating a warm, welcoming space where our community can gather, connect, and enjoy meaningful moments together.

Last night, We had the honor of speaking at the Best of San Mateo Awards as Chill Spot Rendezvous was recognized as Best Ice Cream in San Mateo.

Standing on the stage at the College of San Mateo was especially meaningful. CSM has been my professional home as an educator and Director of Addiction Studies, and it was a reminder that whether in education, therapy, community service, or business, my mission has always been the same: helping people feel connected, valued, and that they matter.

When I created Chill Spot Rendezvous, it was never meant to be just an ice cream shop. It was envisioned as a place where community, culture, kindness, creativity, learning, and connection could come together under one roof.

This past year brought challenges we never anticipated, including a car crashing into our café and a break-in shortly thereafter. There were moments when continuing forward seemed uncertain.

Yet through it all, our community showed up.

This award belongs to every customer, staff member, volunteer, family member, community partner, and friend who believed in us and supported us.

We are grateful that so many people have embraced our vision of bringing people together through ultra-premium ice cream, global comfort food, vegan and dairy-free offerings, community events, and a welcoming space for all.

The ice cream may bring people through the door, but it is the connections that keep them coming back.

Thank you, San Mateo,  family, friends,  and supporters for believing in us. We promise to keep growing, learning, serving, and sharing the love.
