Can you spot the newly hatched Praying Mantis?

Last week we made a baby Mantis habitat and put the egg pod out to do its thing. Today, we counted at LEAST 6, but each sac has 100-200 eggs so I’m sure there’s more running around!

Can’t wait to watch these little guys and gals grow and then watch them protect our garden!! 🪬💪🏼👩🏻‍🌾

Can we talk about how amazingly beautiful nature is?

Raya, our Blue Slate Turkey is broody and has a bunch of eggs under her. Now, that’s pretty adorable but what makes this picture and situation even more amazing is that there’s a second bird in this photo…. Cassie, our lavender Guinea Hen is hiding under Rayas wing and only leaves Raya to grab quick food and water once a day. If you step too close you can hear Cassie hissing under her wing in a protective manner.

How freaking cool is this duo??

If all goes well, babies should be due to hatch around June 13th so stay tuned!

With the hotter weather upon us, most of our outdoor projects and renovations on the ranch have to wait till evening (or have to start at the buttcrack of dawn). No matter the weather though, our trusty foreman Lane is always present and oversees every detail.

And rolls in the dirt.

Yall. I need to gush for a second.

Can we talk about the color variations in our eggs? Im so blessed to have a huge variety of breeds that produce an Easter Basket worth of gorgeous egg colors!

And I suppose the chickens arent too shabby themselves. 😋🐓🥚
