Dear Mr. Biden,
I am an Emergency Medicine physician. In almost two decades of doing this job, I’ve thrown my back out a few times while pulling on dislocated hips to help get elderly patients out of excruciating pain; I’ve knelt on the floor examining infected ulcers on the feet of unhoused people while breathing through my mouth to keep myself from vomiting; and I’ve stayed late after many shifts to make sure patients I’ve newly diagnosed with cancer have all of their questions answered.
Also: I’m no saint, I’ve made a ton of mistakes in my life, and I’ve been blessed with a lot of privilege, too.
However, I do believe I know what it feels like to make sacrifices and put my own needs, desires, and ego aside to see the principles I believe in prevail.
And I thank you for having the humility to do that today. You were the guy we needed in 2020, but not the guy we need in 2024.
It’s been an honor to have you serve as my president.
Sincerely,
Brian Lin, MD
