Davis Family Goats

Davis Family Goats We raise, milk, and sell registered Lamancha Dairy and Pack goats, and F1 Miniature Lamanchas as a family. Our goats are loved! We love Lamanchas!

Our family started raising purebred Lamancha goats for the delicious milk, cheese, yogurt, and soap... and quickly grew to love all aspects of these beautiful creatures. We believe in raising our goats as naturally as possible. Our kids are raised by our does--with plenty of play from a multitude of people. We believe a happy goat is a healthy goat! We milk our does every morning and leave the kid

s with their dams in our large pasture during the day. Each doe gives us at least 1/2 gallon of delicious milk each morning--no "goaty" flavor here! Our goats are loved by everyone who comes to the farm. They run to the fence to greet visitors and follow us around as we work. We also have the unique distinction of providing an outlet for the All in the Family, LLC DTA to experience farm life. Our animals are worked with and loved on daily basis by a variety of individuals. As such they are socialized and used to being walked and handled by children and people with disabilities. Though we primarily raise dairy goats, our boys are not to be left out! The bucklings that are not sold as bucks, are wethered and raised to be pack goats and carting goats for the farm. The goats love having a job to do and we love the help they give!

Loki is getting excited for the Mommy and Me class starting next week! (Well, in the first picture he was excited about the goats eating alfalfa on the other side of the pasture, but he is ALSO excited about being a part of the classes...)

We were having a discussion though. Loki is a very manly little horse, who just happens to be super cute. And little (it's hard to tell just how little he is in this picture, but he's really little!) Since many of the children coming to our classes will be fans of "My Little Pony" should we decorate him with pretty flowers and ribbons? How else do you decorate a really cute miniature horse?

Maybe I should find him a baseball cap... πŸ€”

For those who are interested, we still have openings for our Mommy and Me in May classes for ages 3-5 (and a few openings left for our May 27th toddler class). You can sign up here:

Our biggest farm helper decided to up and go get married last week. πŸ’πŸ‘°β€β™€οΈπŸ₯°

This is the look the does give me every morning since that wonderful event. It is hard to translate EXACTLY what this look says, but it basically goes something like this:

"Good morning inferior human. While I do appreciate your overall attention to detail and exemplary kindness to me and my fellow milking mothers, I would be remiss if I did not pass along our chief complaint: mainly, your punctuality. It is completely unacceptable for you to take all morning to complete our care. This needs to be remedied as quickly as you are able if you would like us to continue to deliver high quality mammary secretions to you every day. Sincerely, Juniper."

I'm working on it!

This is Cholla. Check out that udder!!!

None of my family appreciate this nearly enough πŸ€ͺ. It's so wonderful when your breeding program works and gives you multiple first fresheners with beautiful, high-production udders. Four of my first fresheners are giving me over a gallon per milking. More milk than I had planned for this year, but a great problem to have! πŸ€ͺ. Cholla's doeling, Lucy, is still available and an incredible deal because her dam is a first freshener and I haven't done official performance testing on her yet.

Maiden's udder has returned in her granddaughter! πŸ₯°πŸ₯°. First Freshener, Elsa, is giving me 3/4's of a gallon every morning with two large kids having complete around the clock access to her. This is her this morning--she's not even in full bloom! 😍
