Did you know that our phones are linked with the greenhouse's temperature? Check out the graph from last night to today! It's currently 84 without wind. Anyone want to come do some gardening with me this afternoon? 🙂

I had someone ask me, "what are you building out there?"
Short answer: A greenhouse that is sunk into the ground and heated by the earth's stable temperature.

This is the video that started it all! My brother sent it to me 8 years ago and we've been dreaming of it ever since!

You can move the girl out of California but this brings some fun parts of my childhood back to Iowa. Like *fresh citrus*, guavas, and winter activities that bring joy!

There's so many uses for this space and I can't wait to cultivate it into something beautiful.

Winter temperatures in Alliance, Nebraska can drop to 20°F (the record low is -40°F/C), but retired mailman Russ Finch grows oranges in his backyard greenhou...

There's a lot happening on the farm these days!
1. Today, we got both layers of the geothermal tubes in the ground.
2. Our 8' trench got back-filled 4 feet (2 feet on each layer).
3. 1/2 a grain bin has been pulled apart, and the area cleared. It's now ready for dirt work that needs to happen!
4. A big rock was found! It's kinda a big deal. We're rock people.
5. Promises were kept. We were determined to improve our work/ life balance. Today, we took some breaks. Tonight, we're picnicking for supper on the back patio.
6. Problems were solved, and lessons were learned. Mosquitos have been a huge issue, and we've tried so. many. things. (Thermacell from 610 Depot was the final solution). We all learned the joy of pushing through what felt like defeated. Last week, we had kinked geotubes and had to take a step backward. Today, we had the joy of overcoming a really big obstacle!

It's teacher appreciation week this week and the first blooms from the farm are heading to the teachers and staff! Groeing up as a teacher's kid, I have seen the work that goes on behind the scenes. Their dedication is inspiring!
Find some time this week to give some kindness to the teachers in your life!
