Curious about how fiber tools actually work? Ever wished you could fix that spinning wheel, loom, or mystery object sitting in the corner of your studio?

Join Yama for a hands-on Build & Repair Clinic where we explore tools, learn practical skills, and get comfortable fixing and maintaining our fiber equipment.

What We’ll Do & Learn

• Take apart real equipment and put it back together again.
For our first class we’ll work on a table loom that “needs a few screws”… and possibly a little more investigation.

• Bring your broken or incomplete tools.
Spinning wheels, looms, odd fiber gadgets… the more the merrier. We’ll diagnose problems and may be able to repair them during class at no additional charge.

• Learn fiber tool anatomy.
We’ll examine a working table loom and spinning wheel, focusing on parts, maintenance, and common repairs.

• Safe tool use.
Best practices for working with tools and materials safely while building practical hands-on skills.

• Try it yourself.
After demonstrations, everyone has the chance to practice at their own comfort level.

• Build an Inkle Loom.
We’ll demonstrate building a simple inkle loom.
Kits will be available if you’d like to build one to take home.

Tools & Materials

An assortment of tools and materials will be available, but you are welcome to bring your own tools if you prefer.

Each participant will receive safety goggles to take home.

Cost & Format

🕒 2-hour workshop

• Adults: $40
• Minors: $18
• Under 15 must be accompanied by an adult

🔧 Bring something to repair or build — no extra charge

🪢 Inkle Loom Kit
• $25 if you take it home
• Free if you build one and leave it with us for future classes.

Call 603-520-2640 to reserve your spot. Please also mark yourself as going in this event, but your spot will be held only with a phone call.

Sometimes the best way to learn how fiber tools work…
is to take them apart and see what’s inside.

Come curious. Leave confident.

🐑 Sheep & Wool Festival Fiber Mills Spotlight Series 🧶

Countdown to the New Hampshire Sheep & Wool Festival Wool Pool & Custom Processing Day
Friday, May 8, 2026 | 12 PM – 6 PM

This series highlights the fiber mills vending at the festival this year, one per month, celebrating their history, equipment, and offerings.

Vendor Spotlight —

🐑 Pict Wool 🧶

Say hello to Pict Wool, a fleece-to-yarn fiber mill located in Wilton, New Hampshire.

Pict Wool specializes in helping shepherds and fiber producers transform their raw fleeces into beautiful usable fiber. Their mill focuses on custom processing, offering services that take wool from the raw fleece stage through carding, drafting, and spinning into finished yarn or roving.

What makes Pict Wool especially exciting for New England fiber growers is their dedication to working with individual fleeces and smaller farm lots, helping local wool become finished fiber products that stay within the regional fiber economy.

Behind the mill is a deep appreciation for wool’s journey—from the sheep in the pasture to the finished skein in a maker’s hands. Their equipment and careful processing allow farmers and fiber artists to see their fleece transformed into yarn that truly represents their flock.

At the festival’s Wool Pool & Custom Processing Day, Pict Wool will be available to talk with shepherds and fiber producers about their processing services and how fleeces can move from farm to mill to finished fiber.
