Some suspicious clouds hurried our hay making yesterday and we opted to make some summer feed for the girls!

This change in diet reincorporating baleage has subdued the green grass taste and our milk is tasting the same delicious way it was this spring!

Joe really enjoys his new bale wrapper and how much time he can save making feed between chores!

Joe can’t get enough pictures of the girls on the hill!

Thats all he seems to give me for content these days even if I ask for him to change it up 🤪

Though rumor has it the discbine is hooked to the big John Deere and the orchard grass is particularly thick next to the shop… 1st cut is nearly here!

More wood ash! Stocking up for fall application so we can continue to improve the fields we rely on!

The girls have been enjoying lush green pastures for over three weeks!

We received our results from DHIA (who we test each cows milk with), and we are feeling pretty happy about what these girls are doing on grass and a little bit of grain! 40 #/cow and SCC of 110k.

PSA: With the lush pasture you have probably noticed a change in milk taste as the cows adjust to the new diet themselves. That is completely normal!

Lastly, Saturday marks 6 months of milking cows here at the farm. We are incredibly grateful for the support of our community and partners. Thank you all and Drink Milk!
