A little bull calf born on Sunday 8/30. The boys discovered him and mamma at evening chore time. Our first and only calf for 2026!!

Miss Cupcake did so well for a first timer!! He was up, dry, and appeared to have sucked when we found them. Cupcake is 1/2 Milking Shorthorn 1/2 Bison Cross. Leaving her calf to have an interesting cross as well. He is 1/2 Milking Shorthorn 1/4 Pinzguaer 1/4 Bison cross.

The little guy doesn't have a name yet. I told the kids he was going to be dinner. So pick a name not to get connected to!!

He's a spunky one so far! Finding ways out of the pasture and running around like a crazy calf. It's good to add a little one to the homestead.

The garden is definitely in the full steam ahead movement. The tomatoes are pumped into overdrive, I've harvested around 150 lbs already! Though I haven't preserved any yet. Just washing, cutting the core out, and bagging to go in the freezer. Time and other events have led to saving them for when I'm ready. Which I'm not a huge fan of because I tend to lean on that habit to allow for other things that need to happen. So that needs to stop! 🤣

I've grown some of my biggest heads of cauliflower ever this year. I'm chalking that up to the cow manure we put in the garden this spring. Plus, companion planting with dill and onions for pest resistance.

The pole beans are really starting to produce. I honestly love harvesting in the garden and having more veg then I know what to do with. I call that a good problem!! Then I get to preserve it for winter 🙌

How's your garden looking this season? What doing the best? What did you struggle with?

I know I struggled with squash bug pressure this year. I've done the warm soapy water and plucked them off one by one. What have you done that works that is natural?

A new addition has been added to the Homestead! Meet Sweet Pea 💖 a cashmere doe. She has come a long way. Around 2,000 miles. All the way from Colorado!!

I am excited to add her to my little herd of goats. Excited to have two does to breed this fall! She is quite nervous but still gentle and sweet. Looking forward to seeing how she settles in over the next coming weeks.

We traveled to NY over the weekend to pick her up. Stopped Hulse Hill Farm Stay to stay overnight, another cashmere goat farm! We had a lovely dinner prepared for us. Breakfast and coffee was at the Otesaga Resort overlooking the Otsego Lake. A spectacular view! We also got the locals tour of Cooperstown. It was a wonderful time! Thank you to Christine & Rick. We definitely recommend staying with them if you're in the area.

We picked up our new sweet girl Kato En Farm, another cashmere goat farm. Two cashmere farms in one weekend!✨ I'm so grateful for Nadya and all her hard work planning the transport from CO. I love chatting with Nadya and talking all about cashmere goats. She has a beautiful expanding goat herd with wonderful goals and I'm looking forward to seeing what she does. Give her a follow!!

I'm so grateful to be home too! It was a long weekend. But it was so lovely to get away even for a short while. Shout out to the best friends who did the chores while we were away. We're forever grateful to you and your friendship 💖✨ You know who you are! I couldn't tag you for some reason!

In the thick of it! Garden harvest is kicking into overdrive! Around 200-250 lbs of potatoes harvested, endless amounts of basil, and a heaping pea harvest!!

Next up, tomatoes!! I've been harvesting a few every other day. For a total of around 25 lbs already. Soon it's going to be a bit overwhelming!! 🤣 But, that's where I thrive best!

Greetings All!

It's been a long time since I shared in this space. I just wanted to come on here to share the farm stand will be open on Saturdays only now from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. This change comes with much relief to myself. The Farm Stand has been a blessing to us over the years but sometimes scaling back is okay too.

The cows have been sold. With 4 remaining. Three have dates for the butcher and the one remaining will have a calf at some point. So very small and just for us! The hay equipment has been sold as well. Boy! I'm glad about that! I've hated haying since I was a kid.

What remains are my beloved cashmere goats and rabbits. As well as laying hens for eggs. We're raising 4 hogs for ourselves this year and taking a break next year. The plan is to raise them every other year.

What you will continue to find in the farm stand is eggs, some meat, maple syrup, handmade sewn items, goat milk soap, and maybe other creations in the fiber world.

As our oldest rolls into his teen years we want to focus on togetherness, taking adventures, and making memories off the farm. While our daily lives will still revolve around farming, it will be nice to do other things! Like taking a short trip, going hiking, or camping!

I'm incredibly grateful for all our followers, customers, friends and family! This has been an incredibly fun era in my farming adventure. But, I no longer desire to produce and sell like I was.

I desire a slow life. Time to read. Time to create with my hands. To spin yarn. To knit and crochet! To just farm to produce food for ourselves. A simple life. One off phones and technological devices. One where the pictures are kept in your minds eye and kept close to your heart. A life filled with times of old.

3. SOLD Belle- 7 to milking shorthorn cow, machine milk only. Respects electric and barbed wire fence. Dry, due to calf 6/24, bred to Bender milking Shorthorn bull. Excellent milker! Produces 4+ gallons on OAD milking. Two zero zero zero

Just a little phrase I thought up while picking wild violets for too many hours 🤣 Next up.....is 5 gallons of wild violet wine!!

This wine is delightful. A soft pink color. Smooth after aging. Slight floral taste. It tastes like Spring in a wine glass. So good!!

Preparing the wine is easy. It's the collecting of the blooms that takes the longest! But when we do it together, it's fun. Plus, it goes faster!
