We're making some changes here at Taborton Mountain Farm as we shift our focus and prepare for the 2027 season. That means reducing our pig herd! We have proven breeding sows and over 40 piglets available. We're open to reasonable offers and would love to see these animals find their next farms.

Wilbur is doing so good with her babies! As bittersweet as it is, we have decided to go a different route with our breeding program and are looking to rehome this pink beauty.

Wilbur and her babies are available for rehoming. Wilbur was born 1/1/2023 - she is electric trained (respect even if power is off), born and raised outside, is currently raising her 5th litter. She enjoys spending her long summer days down by the pond, catching a fresh drink from the garden hose, and socializing with her friends.

Meet SJ!

SJ is new to Taborton Mountain Farm this year and an important new member of our breeding flock.

SJ is an Easter Egger — although you may have also heard these chickens called “Americanas.”

Here’s a fun fact: Easter Egger, Americana and Ameraucana are often used interchangeably, but they aren’t actually the same thing. Ameraucana is a recognized breed with specific breed standards, while Easter Eggers are not a standardized breed at all.

And honestly, that’s part of what makes them so much fun!

SJ is the handsome black-and-white rooster pictured here, but take a look at some of the other Easter Eggers we have on the farm. They can come in all kinds of colors and patterns. Many have those adorable fluffy cheeks and beards, and they can have very different personalities too. Some of ours have been incredibly friendly — including girls who apparently think my shoulder is an appropriate place to hang out.

And then, of course, there are the eggs!

Easter Eggers are best known for adding some color to the egg basket. Depending on the hen’s genetics, they can lay beautiful shades of blue, green, olive or tinted eggs. You can see some of those colors mixed into our eggs here.

Another fun fact: one hen doesn’t lay a rainbow of different colors. Once she starts laying, her eggs will stay essentially the same color throughout her life, although the shade can vary a bit.

SJ will be helping us produce the next generation of Easter Eggers here at Taborton Mountain Farm, and we’re excited to see what his babies look like.

Because with Easter Eggers, you really never know what you're going to get — and that’s half the fun!

We’ve noticed quite a few new faces around here lately, and we just wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU! ❤️

For those of you who are new here — welcome to Taborton Mountain Farm!

We raise chickens and ducks for fresh eggs, chickens for meat, and during the spring and summer our farm gets even busier as we hatch and raise chicks and ducklings. 🐥🦆 We also breed pigs year-round, which means there’s usually a litter of piglets around here somewhere — or another one on the way! 🐷

Along the way, we share the good, the messy, the exciting, and sometimes the downright exhausting parts of raising animals and growing our farm.

And we’re incredibly grateful to have all of you following along with us.

Fresh Farm-Raised Chicken Available Soon!

We’ll be processing the last of our 2026 broilers soon and expect to have about 15 birds available for anyone looking to stock their freezer with fresh, locally raised chicken.

Our broilers are raised outdoors on grass, with room to move around, scratch, forage, stretch out, and flap their wings — just the way we believe chickens should be raised.

These are the last broilers we’ll have available this year, so if you’re interested, send us a message!
