Cedar Farm

Cedar Farm Cedar Farm's Mission: Connect the farm with the public to promote sustainable agriculture. Jim and Lisa Shaw welcome you to Cedar Farm!

We are a small, veteran-owned, grass-based, sustainable farm located outside of Tulsa, Oklahoma. We are the oldest operating Oklahoma dealer for the versatile and dependable BCS Two-Wheel Tractor. In addition, we raise and sell products from our cattle, Tamworth Hogs, and free range hens. Our farming practices are humane and all-natural, and no hormones or chemicals are used. Antibiotics are not a

dded to our home-mixed feeds and are only used as a last resort to avoid animal suffering. While the farm is not certified organic, we use organic methods while maintaining our farm motto "Know your Farmer". In this way, we build a relationship with our customers so they know they can trust our products. Please visit www.cedarfarmok.com for more information. If you have any questions, feel free to give us a call or email. Thank you for supporting small family farms.

Our thanks and gratitude go to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the liberty and freedom we enjoy today.

If you have overgrown vegetation to tackle, this is your go-to combo!

Our BCS jar gripper/opener is a favorite giveaway among our trade show attendees. It is a go-to helper in the Cedar Farm kitchen when the big guy isn’t nearby to help with a stuck lid. One of our dear friends shared this video of her using the gripper in an unexpected way. Ingenious, isn’t it?! Thanks so much for the smart idea, Kristen K.!

Yikes! This is another very persuasive reason to focus on a whole foods diet. How many of these are in your fridge or pantry?

Do not eat these. Discard immediately if you recognize any of these in yours or a loved one’s kitchen. It’s the easiest act of love you can do for them today.

A French study in PLOS Medicine examined the impact of emulsifiers—food additives used to improve texture and extend shelf life—on cancer risk.

Researchers analyzed data from 92,000 adults over nearly 7 years and found that certain emulsifiers significantly increased cancer risk:

Mono & diglycerides of fatty acids (E471)—found in processed baked goods, margarine, and ice cream—were linked to:
15% higher risk of overall cancer
24% higher risk of breast cancer
46% higher risk of prostate cancer

Carrageenan (E407 & E407a)—a thickening agent in dairy alternatives, deli meats, and plant-based products—was linked to:
32% higher risk of breast cancer.

Cancer is complex and multifactorial, but one thing is certain: the food we eat plays a massive role in shaping our long-term health. Cutting out ultra-processed foods and focusing on whole, nutrient-dense foods is one of the most powerful steps you can take to reduce disease risk.

Thank you to my friend Vani Hari for this image + bringing awareness to this critical issue.

With having many productive endeavors happening simultaneously comes the inevitable social media "catching up" on sharing said endeavors. One such case from April 10th-11th is our participation in the collaborative efforts of Okmulgee Community Garden and The College of the Muscogee Nation Extension that produced their 2026 Plant Sale. In addition to the sale, this community-focused event provided education, food, and fun, as well as offered BCS Two-Wheel Tractor Demonstrations to attendees.

Jim was honored to be invited to share his expertice while giving folks a hands-on chance to experience the wonders of BCS farming/gardening. We are grateful for opportunities like this one when we are able to encourage and guide the community toward healthy and efficient growing methods. Thank you to Bob Seebeck of the Okmulgee Community Garden and Chris Azbell of the College of the Muscogee Nation for your confidence in Jim and our BCS Two-Wheel Tractors!

In recent weeks, we've enjoyed opportunities to engage in what lies at the heart of Cedar Farm's mission which is to "connect the farm with the public to promote sustainable agriculture." Last week, Jim paid a visit to RestoreOKC, an organization whose mission dovetails beautifully with ours. Their mission states "We work with our neighbors to rebuild the systems that shape daily life...to create lasting pathways out of generational poverty in Northeast Oklahoma." Dr. Joshua Ringer, Director of Farms, shared that one aspect of this work is their impressive program involving training and employing people in agriculture while growing food for others. In addition, they have a thriving farm store where their produce is sold to the public.

RestoreOKC is a former customer of Cedar Farm having purchased a BCS 749 tractor, a Rotary Plow, and a Flail Mower back in 2023. During his visit, Jim delivered a Power Harrow and a Rollerblade Flail Mower that will be great additions to the workhorse BCS equipment used in their high tunnels and gardens. Jim also performed some scheduled maintenance on the tractor and assured that RestoreOKC will have continued quality performance from their sound investment. Thanks, Dr. Ringer and RestoreOKC, for your commitment to making our communities stronger, and for trusting Cedar Farm - BCS to support your farming/gardening needs.

For over a decade, Cedar Farm - BCS has enjoyed a tremendous working relationship with Langston University. During that time, the institution has purchased multiple tractors and attachments for use on their campuses. Earlier this week, Jim had the pleasure of accepting an invitation from Langston University-Tulsa to provide a demonstration/training with hands-on experience using the amazing BCS Two-Wheel 749 Tractor and equipment for a group of local residents who are interested in gaining skills for gardening and raising food.

The plot used for the gathering was formerly a residential area, now cleared for garden space. Thick Bermuda grass and bricks provided obstacles to tackling this tough sod, but the Rotary Plow made quick work of it, followed by the Power Harrow which was used to prep the soil for planting.

This class kicked off plans for continued training in gardening and food production. As a part of this valuable offering, Langston University will also provide a loaner program utilizing their inventory of BCS equipment, and other hand tools, in support of community growing efforts.

With our goal to provide education and mentoring to small-scale farmers and gardeners, we are always happy to be a part of projects like this one. It was an honor to participate, and we look forward to other such opportunities. We wish Langston University and its students all the best in their pursuit of this worthwhile endeavor.

Back in 2017 I had a Gilt die the day after farrowing, due to some internal issue, leaving me with orphaned pigs to care for. My answer was to buy some milk replacer, some plastic baby bottles and invent the " M1A1, MOPFA", (Multiple Orphaned Pig Feeding Apparatus).
It did the trick. Kept them going, feeding 3-4 times a day for a couple weeks until they would drink from a feed bowl.
