Next up for ForeverYoungFarmstead… Rabbits!

The idea of eating cute bunnies is a challenge for some of the family, but the benefits made enough sense to give it a try.

Fertilizer: four times the amount of nutrients than horse or cow manure and double that of chicken.

Meat: high protein, super low fat, and good source of iron.

Apparently, you can get 100 pounds of meat in a year from two rabbits (buck/doe).

Excellent meat conversion = minimal inputs.

In late fall/early winter last year we planted our first cover crop using our RTP Outdoors Genesis 3, no-tilll seed drill. This is by far our neatest piece of equipment. This drill plants EVERYTHING!

This machine offers 7.5" spacing, 5 planting rows, 0 - 2.5" working depth, 4.9 bu seed tray, and 2.8 acre/hour capacity… all from the back of my tractor!

Spring is coming. If anyone needs some planting done, we can work something out.

Here you see the beginnings of what’s to be our next Chicken Mobile! We’re planning on scaling up something around 200 laying hens with this over the next few months.

Why??? Did you know that one chicken produces approximately 10 lbs of manure a month? Thats 2000lbs of natural manure monthly!!!

With proper rotation, this is a key element in both eliminating any necessity for synthetic fertilizers and maintaining soil vitality and a rich microbial ecosystem. AND… it’s also nice to be a positive contributor to this egg market!

F2B Double Doodles for sale. We are not getting into breeding but our F1 goldendoodle and our F1B labradoodle are now parents! These babies are doing so well and growing daily. They are 2 weeks today and will be able to go home the week of July 15th. We have 2 reservations as of now but those puppies are not pictured.

Our first batch of turkeys are growing great! We moved them to our outdoor coop that we move daily. We did have to add a fan to keep them cool and to keep the flies away. We have 15 turkey that will be processed in September so remember to order yours today.

Not only has this venture brought us many valuable life lessons about raising our food, but we have met new neighbors! Thanks Ms. Bishop for being our very first customer! We were both shocked to realize, we only lived 1 mile away from each other. 😂🥰
