Rainbow Farm

Rainbow Farm Rainbow Farm is a husband and wife owned farm located in Sandstone, West Virginia. The poultry feed is free of medications and hormones.

We are a small, but diverse farm located in the mountains of southern West Virginia. Our agricultural pursuits include - Organic Market Gardens (concentrating on greens), Eggs (from free roaming hens), Pastured Poultry, Goats (for breeding stock, 4H, and meat), Fruit (orchard and blueberries), and Hay. Products are marketed and sold off the farm year-round & at the Lewisburg Farmers Market every

Saturday from April-November from 8:30am-1:00pm. We strive to produce the highest quality product the most natural way possible. Our produce is grown without the use of petroleum based fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides; in may ways our practices are better than USDA organic. The goats receive only minimal grain rations, (during late pregnancy and lactation) and are wormed on an as needed basis only following the FAMACHA method. The layers receive a feed ration, but spend the majority of the day outside the coop foraging. The broiler are raised following Joel Salatin’s method of raising Pastured Poultry.

We unloaded our fourth batch of Cornish X chicks into the brooder this morning. They will be inside for 12-14 days until they grow feathers and we wean them off the heat lamps in preparation for their move outdoors.

Rainbow Farm will be back at the Farmers Market of Lewisburg this Saturday with freshly processed pasture raised chicken, brought straight from the farm to the farmers market.

They will have:

• Whole chickens
• Wings
• Thighs
• Legs
• Breasts, both boneless and skinless or bone‑in
• Livers
• Hearts
• Backs
• Feet

A full selection, fresh and ready for Mother’s Day weekend cooking.

We’re spending a part of this beautiful day traveling to Summers County to bring back the first round of spring chickens from our friends at Rainbow Farm… and you know what that means!

Tuesday, May 5th: fresh chickens, whole and parted, available after 12 PM

Wednesday, May 6th: FRIED CHICKEN! 🍗🍗🍗 Available by the whole or half bird. Don’t skip the fried chicken livers, mac and cheese, and collard greens!

Pickup begins at 2 PM. Orders with fried chicken livers are available at 3 PM.

It’s a beautiful day on Rainbow Farm. Our first batch of chickens are enjoying the sunshine and lush spring pasture. We are now taking orders for fresh chicken picked up on the farm on processing days.
