Mainers for Humane Immigration is a fantastic local organization and I hope you’ll consider donating! Obviously we have a strong immigrant presence in this city and have for a long time. Recently even asylum seekers have been detained by ICE. On top of that there’s all the other stuff of detaining green card holders, talking of deporting citizens, etc. it’s a good time to support orgs in your community doing the work to help your immigrant community members. Check out the auction and consider reaching out to volunteer!

Well it’s official. After years of debate we finally got a third dog. This big guy ran out right in front of us on the road just north of Shapleigh. We took him into a nearby shelter and after he wasn’t claimed we decided it was meant to be and welcomed him into our home. But he doesn’t have a name yet.

I woke up today thinking about bagels. Like some of you, I haven’t had a bagel in over 90 days!!! So I made my way down to !
Oh — you didn’t know Frannie’s had bagels? Or breakfast sandwiches?
They most certainly do. I opted for a BEC on Asiago because that’s my go to bodega bagel. I nearly went with the corned beef but we’ll save that for next time.

Downhill is definitely going to take our time to reassess where and when we should reopen.

In the meantime, if you’re looking for a breakfast sandwich, on a bagel or otherwise, try Frannie’s!

P.s also Jeff (resident baker dude) had just made some Bavarian style pretzels. So get on that!!

Non- alcoholic Ghia spritzes on the menu for tonight’s solstice party. Come through and celebrate the longest night of the year. Open from 4-10pm tonight playing weird European folk, neo-traditional/medieval tunes, and melodies from the ancient world.

Taking a break from the wine bar tonight so I have a minute to rest.
It’s been a bittersweet final week and I want to rest up for the last two days.

We’re going to have a crazy Saturnalia party tomorrow to ring in the solstice so swing by from 4pm to 10pm!

We’re leaving our little space in Springvale and going who knows where next. While we’re working on it you can still get all of our bagels and sandwiches next week (regular hours) and pre-orders in for the 28th of December as well. We’ll be saying goodbye in a grand fashion with music, dancing, drinks and drag on New Year’s Eve. Come ring in the New Year with us and celebrate with our little community.
