Another grand indie in the books. Included here are shots by Ben Brown (Friday) and Jordan Taylor (Saturday) that capture some of the moments from the weekend.
Among the highlights ... so many people up and dancing in front of the stage to close out Saturday night, it was amazing. A tip of the cap to the young women who dressed up and danced the night away, pulling the rest of us along with them. I forget, until it happens, how music can sweep you away from everything else in this world. A lot of us found that moment at Indie this Fall.
Twurt Chamberlain needs to take another bow. He and his band were a powerful revelation. On a weekend of great performances he stood out. I very much appreciate the trust he put in me to come all the way from Mississippi to grace our stage for one hour. It was an awesome hour.
For the first time I received an award from a band (presumably for being handsome). Oort Patrol knows how to make a guy feel special. Much needed on day two when the adrenaline of running a festival begins to wear off.
This was our 9th Carolina Indie Fest and we once again enjoyed weather perfectly suited for a fest. We are very fortunate for that, I watched as this year's Streetfest was cancelled due to rain and high winds and thought "that could have been us." But it wasn't, and I'm grateful.
A heartfelt "thank you" to all our attendees, sponsors, vendors, food trucks, bands, Hugger Mugger Brewing staff, the City of Sanford, NC - Government and many more who help make this festival possible. It takes about 250 people to make this festival happen & I appreciate them all for their efforts. This event is a labor of love for me & made easier by getting to work with good people.
I'm looking forward to our 10th Carolina Indie Fest in 2027, we will make it a special celebration as best we can. Set your calendars for May 21 & 22, 2027 and see you at the next Indie!
