The McAllister family started from the ground up and are now offering their beautiful farm for weddings, photography and other events. This river was originally named the "Rio Jordon" in 1526 and later dubbed "The Sapponah River" in the 1700's by the Saponi Indian Tribe. Just 20 miles south of Raleigh and minutes away from Fort Bragg military base, nestled along the Deep River is our 167 acre farm
with fenced in pasture, horse stables and other amenities. Miles of nature trails for walking, hiking and horseback riding along the river. Several fishing ponds stocked with bass, brim and catfish. This 167 acre retreat and wildlife oasis holds many of Sanford's wildlife such as the white tail deer, wild geese, owls, fox, rabbits, raccoons, ducks and many more. A great location for weddings and other special events. Deep River runs east 125 miles from Gulliford county, joins into Haw River and pours into Cape Fear. Along the Deep River natural treasures and historic troves lie in hiding. In a canoe, you can feel water's unexpected power and see the landscape's beauty. Below the water's surface swims the Cape Fear Shiner, an endangered, small golden minnow. White pine trees, remnants from the last Ice Age, adorn the riverside slopes. The remains of a lock, dam and canal at Lockwood tell of a complex but failed river navigation system. Near Cumnock you can almost hear the whispers of the many men who gave their lives in the old coal mines, lost in the hot pursuit of fortune.
