Sand crabs for chickens, well I have a fishing license and one thing you get to do is go fishing with live baits. Along the coast line are small surf perch who each crabs that live in the sand. You might put a sand crab on a hook and try for these fish.
Back home I have six chickens, they get a diet of fruit, nuts, vegetables, salad greens and a high protein organic layer pellet feed.
Additionally I will supplement with sand crabs in their diet, I find the shells of the eggs get extra fortified as they become much harder. The reason for this is simple: a chicken egg is a calcium shell and a protein inner yolk and white- well so are sand crabs a hard calcium arragonite shell and a high protein innards.
I use a screen made for the gold panning industry to strain out the sand crabs from the beach sand by washing them in the incoming waves.
The sand falls through the screen and the crabs are left on top. If you also want sand crabs just note there is a daily limit of 50 and you do need a fishing license to get these.
