Congratulations to Hailey Watson, Resident District Manager for SCU Dining, for being recognized with the Santa Clara University Center for Sustainability Champion Award 🌱

Hailey has gone above and beyond to help expand sustainability efforts across campus dining — from reducing food waste and increasing food recovery efforts to supporting more plant-based dining options and composting initiatives across campus cafés.

“Through her role as Resident District Manager of Dining Services at SCU, Hailey has been instrumental in opening doors for sustainable practices in food systems,” shared Lindsay Kalkbrenner, Director of the Center for Sustainability at Santa Clara University.

Through her partnership with Sustainable SCU, Forge Garden, and campus teams, Hailey has helped champion meaningful change in campus food systems while supporting education, collaboration, and innovation around sustainability.

A beautiful way to honor an incredible legacy at Santa Clara University ❤️

Last week, we celebrated the retirement of Carmo Carreia after nearly 25 years with SCU Dining.

Carmo became a beloved part of the community at Sidebar Café at the Law School, where her warmth, care, and daily acts of kindness made a lasting impact on so many guests, students, faculty, and staff.
Last fall, the Law School captured Carmo’s spirit best:

“We express that mission through the many acts of loving kindness that shape our culture here at the law school. This spirit of love shines through in small, everyday moments — like Carmo Carreia, who tends our campus café with such care and devotion. Order a latte and she’ll pour a perfect heart atop the cup: a simple gesture overflowing with generosity and loving kindness.”

Congratulations, Carmo, on your retirement, and thank you for your years of service, heart, and dedication. You will be deeply missed. ☕❤️
