Intro to Hand Spinning on a Drop Spindle
Have you ever wanted to learn how to hand spin animal or vegetable fibers? Have you ever wanted to design your own yarn for a project? If yes, this class is for you and is focused on the basics of hand spinning. We will cover the types of yarn, how different fibers impact the products you can make, understanding twist, staple length, & drafting as well as practicing hand spinning on a drop spindle. For this class, we will be spinning with merino wool roving. Merino is easier to learn on and once you have the basics down you can move on to additional animal fibers. Rob will also demonstrate how roving is made from raw fleece and will also demonstrate spinning on a wheel.

Second photo shows a drop spindle and this is the one we will use in the class.

The third photo was some of my spinning as a beginner and some of this was done on a drop spindle.
