Big Q***r Events is an initiative that was born out of the realization that many local events were exclusionary, only catering to a single facet of our community. Big Q***r Events creates space for the entire LGBTQIA2S+ community and centers q***r artists: including makers, DJ's, emcees, musicians, artists and performers.

The Cantú Q***r Resource Center is a vital space for LGBTQIA+ students at UCSC, a place where many are experiencing independence, affirmation, and community for the first time. Among its many life-supporting services is the Cantú Food Pantry & Community Kitchen, a free, self-serve pantry offering non-perishable foods, snacks, and drinks to the community of LGBTQIA+ students at UCSC. But right now, their pantry shelves are empty due to unmet budget needs, so we’re calling on our q***r community and allies to help us restock and support our students!

HOW YOU CAN HELP

When:
Tuesday, November 25th
4:00 PM – 6:30 PM

Where:
1001 Center St., Santa Cruz
Find us on the back patio!

What We’re Collecting:
* Non-perishable foods (non-breakable containers preferred)
* Single-serving or individually packaged items
* Unopened items only
* No expired foods, please!
* Grocery store gift cards & cash donations to help Cantú restock throughout the quarter

* Big Q***r Events will also be collecting new or clean, gently-used blankets for our unhoused community.

Pride is showing up for one another. Pride is nourishment. Pride is radical inclusion and community care.

Big Q***r Weekend Returns to Santa Cruz – August 15–17, 2025
In a world that right now feels chaotic and uncertain, one thing remains constant, our need for community. More than ever, we need spaces where we feel seen, heard, and supported. Community isn’t just about the people we surround ourselves with; it’s about connection, belonging, and the power of shared experiences for the entire LGBTQIA+ community.

Three Days of Q***r Joy, Art, Performances, DJs, and Community in Santa Cruz, CA. Big Q***r Events is proud to present Big Q***r Weekend, a three-day celebration of q***r art, culture, and community taking place Friday, August 15 through Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the Courtyard by Marriott, 313 Riverside Ave, Santa Cruz, CA.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 15
* Q***raoke | 5 PM – 7 PM | Free & all ages
* I Love the 90’s Drag & Burlesque Show | 8:30 PM – 11 PM and After Hours Dance Party with DJ NolaCruz | 11 PM – 1 AM | 18+ (Tickets available)
SATURDAY, AUGUST 16
* Makers Market | 10 AM – 3 PM | Free & all ages
Featuring local q***r artists, vendors, non-profits, clubs, and a kids’ craft area
* Outdoor Social Space & Games | All day | Free & all ages
* Q***r Social Hour | 5 PM – 7 PM | Free & all ages
* Once Upon a Time Drag & Burlesque Show | 8:30 PM – 11 PM and After Hours Dance Party with DJ NolaCruz | 11 PM – 1 AM | 18+ (Tickets available)
