Open Kitchen, LLC Vietnam Culinary Escapade 2024 RECAP: The Mekong Delta is the rich and fertile “rice bowl” and “kingdom of fruit” of Vietnam, it is the most important area for agriculture and aquaculture production in Vietnam. The river starts in the Himalayas and passes through China, Myanmar, Thailand, and Cambodia before reaching Vietnam. The only way to navigate this region is by boat, where you’ll see rice paddies, fruit orchards, Buddhist temples, and family houses clinging to the river’s banks.

On Day 14 of our Escapade we experienced Mekong Delta and its cuisine that uses a lot of wild vegetation and flowers. We cooked and enjoyed a delicious feast on board our private traditional wooden boat anchored alongside wild mangroves on a calm and beautiful afternoon. A memorable way to experience life on the Mekong Delta!

Open Kitchen, LLC Vietnam Culinary Escapade 2024 RECAP: Saigon is the largest city in Vietnam with a population of over 10 million. Its 24 districts can best be experienced by motorbike! On Day 13 of our Escapade we experienced an evening of Saigon’s food scenes on scooters to feast at some of the best and hidden places only accessible by way of a scooter. A memorable and fun way to celebrate this vibrant city!

Open Kitchen is about celebrating the kitchen as the center of sensory pleasure, healthy living, community, learning, and creativity. We are passionate about getting people excited and inspired to cook, eat, and entertain.

Launched in 2009 by Hue-Chan Karels, Open Kitchen’s unique, multi-purpose space was hailed as one of the best new eateries in the Washington DC Metro area, featuring a farm-to-table bistro, private event space, cooking school, and commercial kitchen rental facility. In 2014, Hue-Chan and her husband brought Open Kitchen with them to Santa Fe, New Mexico, when they found their dream home. A decade later, Open Kitchen has been reimagined to offer thoughtfully crafted, inventive and memorable dining experiences in the Santa Fe region, including specialty cooking classes, event planning and catering, food and wine events, as well as team-building and other corporate culinary services.
