Located in New Mexico just south of Santa Fe, Rancho De Chavez is owned by the Steven B. Chavez family and is dedicated to preserving the natural resources of this pristine, 12,000-acre ranch. It is considered one of the few, privately-owned wildlife sanctuaries remaining in the southwest. The western views from this magnificent ranch take in the southern Jemez Mountains and Sandia Peak. The easte

rn views run right to the top of the nearby Ortiz Mountains. Big-horn sheep, bison and Himalayan exotic are the primary animals being raised on the ranch for re-sale to local ranchers and restaurants. Rancho De Chavez was previously named the Ortiz Mountain Ranch and is steeped in a rich history reaching back to the 1600’s. It was previously owned by the famous Ball Family, known for their glass canning jars.

Sometimes we nurture to help nature. We rescued this sweet baby bison yesterday... maybe 48 hours old. He's learning to nurse and teaching us new lessons every minute. Our hearts are full and Rancho De Chavez now has another permanent resident!
