The Gatehouse at Bien Nacido Estate World-Renowned Vineyard, World-Class Estate Wines. The Miller Family has grown wine grapes since the early 1970's for top wine producers.

Estate wines that communicate the complexity and natural beauty of two of Santa Barbara County's most esteemed vineyard sites. Only recently have they begun crafting their own exclusive wines for Bien Nacido & Solomon Hills Estate Wines label. The terroir of Bien Nacido Vineyards is a combination of the rocky soils, cool climate and good people that work the vineyard on a daily basis. We would like to think that Bien Nacido Vineyards finds its true calling in the hands of those who farm and tend to it year round. It has something to say, and our winegrowing team has allowed it to find its voice through a mindful, dedicated and nearly obsessive commitment to excellence in farming. The soils of Solomon Hills Vineyards are composed primarily of ocean derived sandy loams. Because it is the western most vineyard in the Santa Maria Valley appellation, it is the coolest of all vineyards in this growing region. With the Pacific coastline only miles away, a constant maritime influence results in wines of precise acidity, bright fruit and an inherent elegance.

Nicholas Miller's go-to w**e right now is the 2022 Solomon Hills Chardonnay!

Hailing from the deep sandy soils of the Solomon Hills Vineyard, this w**e revels in its proximity to Pacific Ocean. White peaches mingle with lemon zest, caramel, and sea spray on the nose. On the palate this Chardonnay offers a precise mineral quality with balanced acidity and hints of toasty oak. Long sur lie aging means this w**e will hit its peak in 5 to 10 years.

Last week saw us bringing in the last of our fruit for the Estate: Syrah cofermented with a little viognier.

As you've no doubt seen, this is the earliest harvest we've experienced, starting in early July and wrapping up in the first days of September. For context, we are usually about midway through harvest at this time of year.

Despite the unusual timing, our w**emaking and vineyard teams couldn't be happier with the quality. We're even happier that we were able to wrap things up before our usual Labor Day heatwave.

Now all that is left to do is to see the fermented w**e safely into barrels over the next week or so.
