Recovering from chronic stress can be a beautiful journey in which you discover new hobbies, rediscover the joys of rest, and discover ways of living that feel more authentic. This has certainly been the case for me. It can seem daunting but it’s a small series of steps that are enjoyable and lead to healing on physical, psychological, and spiritual levels. The outcome is one day you wake up and life feels easy and joyful.

I hope you’ll join me as I continue to share information that helped me heal from Hashimoto’s, pre-diabetes, and chronic anxiety. Your body and mind are connected and with chronic stress, there comes many generalized symptoms, ranging from irritability to stubborn weight gain.

What you may have thought were just normal struggles or your personality could be signs of chronic fatigue (aka adrenal fatigue). Focus first on basics and give yourself time and space to heal:

💤 Tip 1: Prioritize Sleep 😴 Give your body the rest it craves! Aim
for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night. Create a soothing bedtime
routine and keep your sleep space cool and dark. Opt to reduce blue light exposure at night to ensure sleep and expose yourself to at least 20 minutes of morning sunlight.

🍏 Tip 2: Nourish Your Body.
Fuel up with a balanced diet rich in
nutrients. Opt for whole foods, plenty of fruits and veggies, and stay hydrated. Stay hydrated to support bodily functions and fight fatigue. Carry a water bottle and sip throughout the day.

How you start your day can set you up for success! Creating a morning routine provides structure which helps with anxiety and overwhelm. It’s even better if you can incorporate those scientifically-proven steps into your routine to help regulate your sleep-wake cycle and to set yourself up for resiliency against stress throughout your day.

And don’t worry if you get derailed. Be gentle with yourself and aim for progress over perfection.
