In 1899, Kanaye Nagasawa, w**emaker for the Fountaingrove Winery, had the Round Barn built. In October 2017, it was destroyed in the Tubbs wildfire.
In November 2017, while making plans for the rebuilding of his own house and barns that had been lost in the fires, just about a mile north of the Round Barn, architect and grape grower Ken Moholt-Siebert decided to rebuild the Round Barn on his property. He had (correctly) guessed that the owners of the property where the Round Barn had been located would not rebuild it.
Ken has now completed framing the entire barn by himself with his own money. He is ready to put the roof, and then the walls, on, and is looking for donations to be able to do this work. The roof and walls will be made of metal-insulated panels in colors close to the colors of the barn that most people remember: red walls and a dark gray/black roof.
Ken hopes to install the roof in the fall of 2026, and the walls in 2027.
In Spring of 2026, Ken and Melissa had some very successful fundraising in the Sonoma County community, raising most of the money needed to buy the roof panels and the planks on the roof eaves. The planks are on and the panels are on order. We now need to raise the money needed to install PVC roofing on the "catwalk", and for labor to trim the roof. This is about $60,000.
