Some pasture pals looking cute!

It is always exciting out at the farm, but yesterday we had some extra fun surprises when there was a problem with our pasture gate! We walked out of the barn to this wild scene - many of our sweet creatures strolling freely about the farm! They were only out a few moments and were quickly returned to their yard, safely and extra happy with their freedom-jaunt! Caring for these delightful creatures is certainly heart warming and keeps us on our toes!

Wool you look at all these sheep? Not only are these friends cute, they’re also social and sensitive. Sheep have a complex social structure and can display their emotions through facial expressions, vocalization, and body language. They can also recognize up to fifty other sheep faces for years! Our sheep have formed strong bonds with each other and some of the other animals around the farm. Who have you seen the sheep making friends with?

Spring has sprung and the farm is looking EGGcellent!! Our chickens and ducks are busy laying and we are doing our best to keep up with the egg- washing and sharing! Like our organic produce, the fresh eggs go out to the youth in our programs. However, we have found ourselves in need of more cardboard egg cartons… so, if you have some extra egg cartons laying around your home, please reach out and we’ll hatch a plan to take them off your hands 🐣 Thank you lovely farm fans- We look forward to hearing from you!

After two wonderful months of delighting in our Terrific Piglets, four of our five little ones have now ventured off the farm and into the arms of two kind, excited local families. Each piglet left with a brother by their side, ready to begin their new chapter together. One little piglet will remain here at the farm, continuing their good therapeutic work alongside Mama Lucita and the other furry friends of Forget Me Not Farm.
While we will certainly miss the four who have set off on new adventures, our hearts are full. We’re deeply grateful for the time we had with them and comforted knowing they’ve been welcomed into loving homes, hearts and hands, ready to rub their bellies into sweet, joyful futures.

Welp it certainly is time for us to update our scratching post! Our pasture friends love to rub and itch themselves on our scratching post, which uses heads of push broom to help scratch in just the right spots! Below we see our cow and friends using the bristles to scratch, and other photos of the very-used and well-loved bristles (the very few left!). So, if you happen to have some old heavy duty or wire push brooms laying around, or want to buy some to donate- we’d be so very grateful, as would our cute scratchy friends! Thanks crew!

I spy with my little eye…an emu hiding in the tall green grass, a sneaky snake slithering in the compost, two cute ceramic slugs reading in an office, a many-legged millipede digging through the dirt, and one mamma pig cozy and covered in a fresh pigloo.
Some of these critters are really good at hiding. Can you find them all?
