Loving Farm Animal Sanctuary

Loving Farm Animal Sanctuary Loving Farm is an animal sanctuary located in Santa Rosa in Northern California.

We give love and lifetime care to over 50 rescued animals: pigs, cows, sheep, goats, turkeys, chickens, roosters, horses, dogs and cats. To educate the public and influence change toward compassionate treatment of ALL animals, and the Planet, by encouraging a plant-based lifestyle. To protect and care for farmed animals saved from slaughter and cats and dogs who have been neglected, abused and abandoned.

🐔🐔🐔Roosters are awesome “man chickens.” We have a total of 5 roosters at LFAS and we adore them. But…we are full. We cannot take more roosters!

These 3 friendly, wonderful boys of ours (Marvin, Maxwell and Mitchell) were literally “thrown out” on a busy road. The heartlessness is truly shocking.💔

Why are roosters neglected, abused and abandoned? Because people only want girl chickens. Because people want eggs. Ugh.🤮

NOTE: DON’T BUY BABY CHICKS. STORES AND BREEDERS ARE LYING WHEN THEY SAY THE CHICKS ARE ALL GIRLS. ADOPT HENS FROM SHELTERS AND RESCUES AND GIVE THEM FOREVER HOMES! PLEASE!

🐷Fiona! Rescued from a lab that tested on animals. The first year of her life was spent in a cage being tortured for no good reason.

And yet…from the moment she arrived at our sanctuary she has been friendly, social and yes…adorable. She has the kindest eyes and the sweetest disposition. Although…so do all of our pigs!

We love Fiona and all of our pigs so much!

Fiona says “Please boycott all products tested on animals. It should be illegal in the US (like it is in other countries) to treat animals this way. And also…please be vegan…for ALL animals!”💚🐷🌱

❤️🐴🧺Dan Mustang is 30 years old…which is about 90 in human years. Senior horses often lose teeth and Dan is no exception. So we feed Dan an “easy chew” grain mixture which we soak to make into a soft nutritious mush.

Dan eats any time he wants and wherever he wants.👑His preferred “dining spot” is on the picnic table up near our house. And…he likes to nap in the shade of our new gazebo.

Back story: Dan was born in the wild, rounded up along with his wild herd, and taken to a slaughter pen. He was rescued from that Hellhole by activists and he’s been with us since he was 6 years old. First we fostered him…but then…we were so smitten with this darling boy we adopted him.

Everyone, of every age, at LFAS is an individual deserving of love and protection. We love you Dan! Every day with you is a gift!🎁

Note: Please don’t support the beef industry. Ranchers are the reason iconic American Wild Horses are being exterminated. Why? Because ranchers want to graze their cattle (usually for free) on public lands. On our tax dollars!😡

🌊🐷🌴We’re doing fun stuff here!

Our 4 littlest pigs (Daisy Darwin Lea and Lexi) asked us to create a “tropical feel” in their paddock (and their piggy barn) so we are heading in that direction!

A generous donor is sponsoring all of this and we are very grateful!

So far we’ve planted 3 large palm trees (delivery and installation is a “thing”🛻🚜in itself), dug a pond and added boulders, (and we are installing a mini waterfall to keep it aerated), we’re in the process of painting the piggy barn in bright tropical colors, the “pigloos” are already tropical colors, and we’ve brought in sand to make a “beach.”

Stay tuned! More fun stuff coming!🌴🐖🐖🐖🐖🌴

💦🐶💦Max is always happy. He gets to run and play and jump into a water trough whenever he feels like it. He has canine friends and feline friends and human parents who love him.

Before we adopted Max he was “dumped” at a shelter. Adopted out. Returned to the shelter. He was “unwanted.” But then his luck changed. Max was fostered by an angel😇and…then…adopted by us.

Has Max been a busy boy? Yes! Has he tried our patience? Yes! Did we ever consider giving up on him? No!

Please don’t ask us to take your dog or cat. Don’t give up on them. Do everything possible to be a forever home. Or, find a solution within your own circle. LFAS cannot take in all of the “unwanted” animals.💔

Happy Memorial Day weekend from all of the beloved rescued animals at Loving Farm Animal Sanctuary!

🐷💦Zumi likes to “help” his Dad fill water troughs.

Note: We are lucky if we get a water trough cleaned and filled before they get in the trough and slosh around! It’s so fun!

Pigs are hilarious and they deserve to be treated like important individuals. It is our honor to give these magnificent beings (rescued from slaughter) lifetime care. They are not food. They are not products. They are not ours to use and abuse.

🐷🐶Someone asked me recently what pigs are like. I said pigs are like dogs and we all love dogs right?

Truly. Pigs are smart and friendly and they bond with each other…and with us…their humans. Just like dogs.

It’s time to stop thinking of pigs as “food.” It’s just wrong. If you connect to the suffering of animals in the Ag Industry you will go vegan. Immediately.🌱

💐We suffered a terrible loss this week (see previous post about Lily🌈🐖) but it’s important for us to remember our lives are also filled with joy and the promise of better days.

So…happy Sunday from four of our always bright and cheerful family members. Chickens are delightfully social and curious little beings. We are perpetually charmed by them and grateful to have them in our lives. They always make us smile. Please think of chickens as

😢🌈💔We lost our Lily and we are devastated. A normally happy time (between Mother’s Day and my birthday) was overshadowed because we finally lost all hope our Lily would recover. We are heartbroken.

About 4 weeks ago Lily suddenly developed a serious health issue and it turned all of our lives upside down…especially Lily’s. We did everything we could to save her.

But…after weeks of doing everything our vets recommended…we lost Lily and our hearts are shattered.💔

Run free now baby girl with all of our loved waiting for you. You left us too soon but you will never be forgotten. You had an amazing will to live but your body let you down. We miss you and we will always love you.

Note: Thank you to our compassionate and brave friend and supporter, Judy. (Judy is the sponsor of Lily and her sister, Iris.) This photo was taken the day Judy came to visit with Lily when we still hoped Lily would get well. Thank you to Dr. J and Dr. F . Your supportiveness, kindness and expertise are greatly appreciated. And thank you to everyone who donated toward Lily’s medical bills. We still have more bills to pay.

Bill and I also appreciate all of the kind messages from so many of you. It means a lot to us knowing you are “out there” loving our rescued animals and supporting our mission. Note: Sadly, farmed animals are some of the most overlooked and abused of any animals on the Planet. Please be vegan…for them.🌱

😢🐷Our beloved Lily is only 2 1/2 but she has been struggling with a serious health issue. Her struggle is also our struggle.

Please keep our sweet girl in your heart and thoughts and send her lots of love and positive energy.💓

We are still hopeful but this has been very hard on all of us.

If you pray…please do. And donate if you can. Lily’s vet bills are significant and still coming in.

Thank you.🙏
