We are excited to welcome Dr. Fred Holcomb to the Santa Lucia Farm family this August!
Dr. Holcomb earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine and recently completed an equine rotating internship at Alamo Pintado Equine Medical Center, where he gained advanced experience in surgery, anesthesia, intensive care, sports medicine, and ambulatory practice. During his internship, he developed a special focus on equine podiatry, working extensively with hoof abscesses, white line disease, hoof wall resections, and advanced hoof care.
Before becoming a veterinarian, Dr. Holcomb owned and operated a successful farrier practice for nearly a decade, serving over 150 horses and working alongside leading equine hospitals throughout the country. His unique combination of veterinary training and extensive farrier experience gives him a comprehensive understanding of hoof health and lameness, making him an outstanding addition to our podiatry team.
Throughout veterinary school, Dr. Holcomb earned numerous scholarships and leadership awards, published research in equine cognition, and served in several leadership roles within the American Association of Equine Practitioners.
When he's not at the the clinic, Fred enjoys team roping and spending time with his fiancรฉe, Peyton, and their two dogs.
Beginning in August, Dr. Holcomb will be joining the Santa Lucia Farm family, where he will focus on equine podiatry and lameness evaluation. We are thrilled to have him on our team and look forward to the exceptional care and expertise he will bring to our patients and clients.
