Old Hammett Crockpot Chili Recipe
Slow Cooker Old Hammett Chili is one of our family’s all time most popular meals, come fall and winter. To be fair, anytime weather dips a few degrees or the skies are the least bit overcast with rain forecasted we’re probably making chili. We’ll use any kind of weather as an excuse to make chili! And for good reason, Old Hammett Chili makes the best chili around! And, you can make it in your crockpot too! It’s incredibly comforting and hearty, full of flavor, packed with protein and it’s a dinner we can agree on.
The Yummiest and Easiest Crockpot Chili Recipe Ever!
Old Hammett Chili is actually one of my family’s favorite foods and we make it all the time. It’s a recipe everyone in our family loves and many wonderful times together have been spent around the table over bowls of chili momma made using Old Hammett Chili seasoning. It is the perfect comfort food anytime.
This slow cooker method is one of our favorite ways to prepare chili. The flavor of the crockpot chili is rich and robust, the texture of the ground beef is just the way the ground beef in chili should be every time! Four to six hours of slow cooking creates the best chili ever....if you can wait that long! 😆
Have we mentioned how easy Old Hammett Chili is to make? It’s super fast, easy, and a family favorite, so this will likely become a recipe you won’t want to lose!
* Brown 2lbs ground beef: With skillet to medium-high heat, add beef and cook stirring occasionally until beef has browned.
* Drain fat, add browned ground beef to slow cooker: Drain fat drippings from browned ground beef, and add browned beef into slow cooker.
* Add 2Cups liquid and 2oz packet Old Hammett seasoning packet: Stir in water or V8 (regular or spicy) and season mixture with salt and pepper to taste.
* Cook on low: Cover using lid and cook on low heat for 4 to 6 hours.
* Add beans: Add in dark and light red kidney beans (pinto beans and great northern beans can also be used) and allow to heat through, about :20 minutes before serving time. Don’t like beans? Leave ‘em out! Old Hammett Chili is good either way!
* Serve warm with desired toppings (cheese, sour cream, chives, onions, even cornbread, saltines, or oyster crackers) whatever you like!
Want to Make Old Hammett Chili on your Stovetop?
You don’t have use a slow cooker - Old Hammett can also be made on your stove top. Brown the 2lbs ground beef, add the 2Cups liquid and 2oz Old Hammett seasoning then simmer over low heat 1 to 2hrs (consider adding the beans during the last :20 minutes).
If using med/high heat, after browning the beef, add together all the remaining ingredients and eat even sooner!
