Oh so happy to be picking my own sunflowers again! To say I’ve missed that is an understatement. I have a small patch here in Virginia that I planted last minute, just to use up my old seeds and I’m thrilled to see most bloomed. I did have a bit of a rabbit intrusion that depleted a small row, but I have rectified the gap in the fence and fingers crossed they won’t get in again! These are procut horizon, my favorites.

Traveled up the road to the the Irvington Farmer’s Market and picked up these goodies. The peppers in my garden are not very impressive this year, so seeing these beauties from Green Branch Farm were a sight to behold. Pattypan squash from Lakeview Apiary and the sour dough from Love Bites Bakery. I’m set! 🤗😋

In today’s edition of what am I digging up now? My favorite thing to do in the garden is harvest potatoes! There is nothing more satisfying to me, other than a good cocktail at 5:00. 😊🤗
I also harvested some onions and thinned the carrots. Oh, another favorite is beets! Yummy!

And…once a gardener, always a gardener! I spent last week at my son’s cabin in Ellijay, Georgia. I’ve been working on beautifying his property. It’s on a very steep hill with a ton of rocks in the soil and weeds! Gosh, I love rocks, but that makes for difficult planting! A few potted plants and a few beauties in the ground. It looks skimpy now, but should fill in over time and more plants!

Last week’s travels took me to the North Georgia mountains. The town of Blue Ridge had the prettiest planter containers in front of their shops. I was inspired! And those hydrangeas are to die for!

Some goodies Irvington Farmer’s Market today. The heat wave has been a bit of a damper on everyone’s plans with lots of canceled events. Thankfully the market went on and bless the vendors for enduring the heat this morning! It was sweltering, but they all smiled and were so pleasant! I bought a lavender bundle and sachet from Samantha and Samuel Frere - Green Branch Farm, LLC sour dough boule from Love Bites Bakery and bread and butter pickles from Jennifer Largett
All wonderful goodies hand made in Virginia.

Traveling to my little backyard cottage garden this lovely June morning in Virginia. My veggies are doing great as well as the flowers. It’s so much fun playing in a smaller space!

I traveled down the road a bit to Gloucester, Virginia to visit Brent and Becky’s Bulbs. A multi acre living ‘store’ with plants displayed in gorgeous gardens. I was remiss in taking a lot of photos, but here are a few beautiful examples of what is on display. I did take home four lovely lilies and promptly planted them in my garden. 🤗
By the way, they have an online store and do ship. They are famous for their spring daffodil tours, which I hope to attend next year.

Traveled to the Urbanna farmer’s market today. This one vendor had the most stunning display of vegetables and beautiful bouquets. I couldn’t resist.
