fter many years, which we are now able to share with you! She was born in 1908 to Russian immigrants, yet led an amazing life
as a very creative cosmetologist in ritzy Beverly Hills, CA, working for
Samuel Goldwyn Studios during their early days of the Ziegfeld Follies
era, and later at salons on Rodeo and Beverly Drives. Her clientèle were
the rich and famous, and she learned to entertain in ways they were
accustomed to. She threw parties at her home, floating fabulous decorations
and lighting (all made by hand) in her pool and on the tabletops. Billee always
made all of the food herself, from scratch, including the sauces, spice blends
and dressings. While the term organic was not a ‘hot topic’ in Billee’s day, most of her herbs
and spices came from natural gardens tended to by her sister’s husband and
their family, who were Italian and farmers at heart. In 2010, Billee’s granddaughter (that's me!) found her handwritten recipes for
this amazing, no salt spice mix which the entire family remembered well, but
