Please remember to limit the use of outdoor lighting. Use warm color bulbs and motion sensors on lights, if lighting is a necessity.

When the sun goes down, a different world comes alive. 🌙

Raccoons, alligators, moths and Chuck-will's-widows are just a few of the many animals that rely on darkness to find food, communicate, avoid predators and navigate their world. Artificial light at night can disrupt these natural behaviors, making it harder for wildlife to thrive. 🦝🐊🦉🦋

You can help protect Florida's nocturnal wildlife by using outdoor lights only when needed, choosing long-wavelength amber, orange or red light bulbs, and keeping lights shielded, mounted closer to the ground and directed downward to reduce light pollution.

Pastured, organic, farm fresh eggs are 2 dozen for $10 this weekend. Message or email if you would like to pickup. Pickup is 7am-8pm, 7 days a week.

All eggs are from the hens on our backyard farm here in North Sarasota. They all have names and live their entire lives at our place, even after they stop laying. They forage outside during the day and are provided with an organic supplemental feed each morning.

We have an updated video on our YouTube channel showing the damage to our fruit trees from the recent cold temperatures. Our farm hit 25° at ground level.

The trees in with our chickens handled the weather much better thanks to the protection of two buildings and a massive live oak tree. The mangos and jackfruits in this area are untouched. The caimitos, starfruit, sapodillas, dwarf Fiji coconut, Inga edulis, and guanabana trees are still very green as well.

My planting strategy will be different moving forward. It is too exhausting to continue to replant so often between hurricanes and cold snaps. I really enjoy change, but admit I am frustrated not being able to do as much as I would like due to healing from a tibia stress fracture. Grateful for help from my family and to be walking better each day💕
