CSU Beef Improvement Center

CSU Beef Improvement Center The CSU BIC is a research ranch dedicated to giving Ag students the opportunity to work and learn. Our internships are paid and housing is also provided.

The CSU BIC is a research facility operated by the breeding and genetics program of Colorado State University. The ranch is located 21 miles southeast of Saratoga, Wyoming, or 10 miles east of Encampment, Wyoming, nestled against the foothills of the Snowy Mountain Range and on the banks of the North Platte River. We focus on research that is "ranch-ready" and relevant to the community we live in,

such as High Altitude Disease (or Brisket Disease). We maintain a herd of 400+ commercial Black Angus mother cows at all times, and retain ownership of our steer calves through the feedlot until finish. They have continually performed well in the feedlot, often grading above 90% choice. We also sell bred replacement heifers and yearling bulls that are adapted to high altitudes and bred for calving ease. We provide internships to undergraduate students from universities across the country. Our internships focus on giving students real, hands-on experience in all phases of ranch work. Interns are also given the opportunity to work with and learn from renowned professors and veterinarians from CSU. If you would like more information on the internship, or would like to apply, please email [email protected].
