And last, but certainly not least, we have two red wines representing Paso De Serra Winery at the Nantucket Wine Festival:

**2016 Previo Red Blend - 70% Malbec, 20% Merlot, 10% Syrah (not pictured)

**2016 Beatus Syrah - 100% Syrah

Paso de Serra is a young up and coming winery located in the Valle de Colón, Querétaro, within sight of the world famous Peña de Bernal monolith. This winery is located 6,466 feet above sea level just north of the 20th parallel. Water is scarce in this semi-arid climate and Paso de Serra must practice extreme viticulture with their 10 hectares of vines. Proprietors Alvaro Larrondo and Renata Gomez got their start in the same way as many wineries in Querétaro - they were originally farmers supplying grapes to Finca Sala Vivé (Freixenet Mexico). In 2013, they debuted their first vintage of wines with Previo, a young vines blend. In 2015 they introduced the Beatus line, a reserve selection of mature vine single varietal wines. Alvaro Larrondo serves as winemaker, and good friend Lluis Raventós (), of Freixenet México, provides technical advice and experience. We are truly impressed with the quality of wine coming from this young winery, and we cannot wait to see what the future holds for them. 🍷🇲🇽

📸 Thanks to our friend Robin Renken from for the amazing shot of the Beatus bottle!

The second winery from Mexico present at Nantucket Wine Festival is Freixenet Mexico with two of their best sparkling wines:

** NV Viña Dolores Dolores Brut Reserva - 50% Macabeu, 50% Xarel-lo

** NV Vivante Sparkling Rosé - 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Ugni Blanc (not pictured)

Founded in 1979, Freixenet México is located in Ezequiel Montes, Querétaro and is a member of the Henkell-Freixenet family of wineries. The largest winery in Central Mexico, and one of the largest in the country overall, Freixenet México must practice extreme viticulture in its semi-arid conditions at over 6,500 feet above sea level. Like most other wineries in the Henkell-Freixenet family, Freixenet México focuses primarily on sparkling wine, which accounts for over 70% of its annual production. Renowned winemaker Lluis Raventós (), originally from Spain, incorporates classic Cava varietals Xarel-lo and Macabeu, as well as Ugni Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon, to create these various sparkling wines. Freixenet México provides valuable technical expertise and equipment to the burgeoning wine industry Central Mexico. With an annual production of 225,000 cases of wine, Freixenet México is truly a world class winery. 🍷🇲🇽
