Border Country Berries

Border Country Berries A U-pick blueberry farm.

08/28/2026

As posted here previously, this year's berry harvest at Border Country ended at closing time this evening. I appreciated ending on a high note with a strong picker turnout and an afternoon of blue skies and comfy temperatures. As always, a sincere "thank you" to everyone who patronized the farm this year! You helped make it a good harvest! Thanks, as well, for the many kind words. Your appreciation is a big part of the reason I do what I do.

Again this year the g-kids have some pumpkins growing in the back. And, again, it will be nip and tuck to see if they ripen in time for the market period. If yes, I'll post it here and the 'kins will be self-serve at the pavilion.

Every one have a safe and wonderful Autumn season and beyond! I hope we will do it all again next year.

We’ve closed for the day, folks. Everything is drenched from the last hour or so. And thunder besides. Sorry. Tomorrow should be better. Hope to see you then!

If you have not read the post from Monday evening, then I urge you to do that and then factor in the rest of this post.

The weather forecast for Wednesday, Aug 26, really hasn't improved at all. Even so, I'll be at the farm ready to open at 9:30a and we'll just see what the conditions are then. If an update is needed I'll try to post from there and I'll update the phone greeting.

Re payment methods: I don’t accept cards at the farm as the signal is weak and processing electronic payment has been unreliable. Cash works well as does a local check. Local is defined as originating in one of the following counties: Chippewa, Luce, Alger, Schoolcraft, Mackinac, Emmett, Cheboygan.

PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE POST AS IT DESCRIBES THE END OF HARVEST.

On Tuesday, Aug 25, due to another obligation the farm will open for picking at 12:00. Closing at the usual 6:30. Weather for Tuesday looks fantastic.

On Wednesday, the 26th, the weather forecast is dismal so I may play that one kind of by ear, but my inclination is to be open if reasonable to do so.

On Thursday, the 27th, I expect to have normal hours (9:30-6:30) if picking conditions support that; and the forecast is sunny. The 2026 harvest at the farm will end at closing time on Thursday, unless conditions indicate sooner.

Starting at open on Tuesday promotional pricing will be in effect through harvest's end. If you pick and purchase a full bucket at regular price, the second bucket of equal size can be picked and purchased at half-price.

Hope to see you in these last few days!

Pre-picking services for the 2026 season have come to an end. No further orders will be accepted. A BIG “thank you” to all who ordered, purchased and picked up berries from the farm this year!! You made a strong contribution to a good harvest! My hope is to offer the same service again in 2027.

On Saturday, Aug 22nd, we are back at it. The farm will open at 10a and plan to close at 6:30p. The weather forecast is a little iffy, but only in the early morning. Stop by if you can. It seems unlikely that the harvest will run for another weekend after this.
