Well, as expected alot of the greenies, have turned far more orange than the last pics; many entirely. So lots of larger carvers to choose from and, still, a good selection of pie pumpkins available to help you with that Thanksgiving Dinner and other Autumn meals.

Prices are 50% off the marked amount. So, pie kins are a $1.75 and the various sized carvers will range from $2 to $3.50.

A couple of light frosts spelled the end for the delicate vines and leaves on the pumpkin plants, so the final picking is done.
As you can see there is a real mix of fully ripe, two tones and a few totally green. If you find that orange/green scheme kinda intriguing stop on by; there lots to choose from. (Full disclosure: the partially ripe will continue to slowly ripen). There is a ton of pie pumpkins, nearly all are fully ripe. Lots of med-large carvers. Some of the grand-daddies you see sort of in the center and off to the right are on the high side of 40lbs! This makes lots of room for carving or painting multiple faces on the same ‘kin!
Drop out to the farm and grab a little fall fun! It is self serve. Instructions are posted. You’ll see the pay box. Cash or local check. 3401 Seymour Rd; Soo, MI.

So a few of the kids pumpkins have found their way to the pavilion. 3401 Seymour Rd, just outside Soo, MI. We should be able to add some in the days to come, assuming the deer behave themselves. The fruits are not as numerous as last year; but, they are definitely larger and a better quality this year. There are pie pumpkins at $3.50 apiece; mid-size carvers at $5 ea. And big dudes at $7. Prices are marked on the stakes.
Just for reference on the sizes: the pie-kin’s run between 5 and 8.5 lbs. The mid size are 18-21 lbs. the big guys range from upper 20s to over 40 lbs.
As in the past this is self-serve. The pay box is on the post. Please bring cash or local check made out to Border Country Berries.

As posted here previously, this year's berry harvest at Border Country ended at closing time this evening. I appreciated ending on a high note with a strong picker turnout and an afternoon of blue skies and comfy temperatures. As always, a sincere "thank you" to everyone who patronized the farm this year! You helped make it a good harvest! Thanks, as well, for the many kind words. Your appreciation is a big part of the reason I do what I do.

Again this year the g-kids have some pumpkins growing in the back. And, again, it will be nip and tuck to see if they ripen in time for the market period. If yes, I'll post it here and the 'kins will be self-serve at the pavilion.

Every one have a safe and wonderful Autumn season and beyond! I hope we will do it all again next year.

The weather forecast for Wednesday, Aug 26, really hasn't improved at all. Even so, I'll be at the farm ready to open at 9:30a and we'll just see what the conditions are then. If an update is needed I'll try to post from there and I'll update the phone greeting.

PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE POST AS IT DESCRIBES THE END OF HARVEST.

On Tuesday, Aug 25, due to another obligation the farm will open for picking at 12:00. Closing at the usual 6:30. Weather for Tuesday looks fantastic.

On Wednesday, the 26th, the weather forecast is dismal so I may play that one kind of by ear, but my inclination is to be open if reasonable to do so.

On Thursday, the 27th, I expect to have normal hours (9:30-6:30) if picking conditions support that; and the forecast is sunny. The 2026 harvest at the farm will end at closing time on Thursday, unless conditions indicate sooner.

Starting at open on Tuesday promotional pricing will be in effect through harvest's end. If you pick and purchase a full bucket at regular price, the second bucket of equal size can be picked and purchased at half-price.
