We have had alot of requests...our fields are not open for goose hunting. We are open for the sharp tail grouse season through the Hunter's Access Program. We have asked our local conversation district about other seasons for foul but have been told that there isnt funds available. Please reach out the the district and ask them to reconsider offering this to land owners in the area. Unfortunately due to having folks drive on our fields...we have declined other requests unless we have DNR monitoring the activity.

3/31/2021 - We spent so much time trying to keep hives alive in the north. They absolutely flourish here in our southern "homestead" of Texas. We have spent several days this week helping a neighbor remove this from their garage. Such a beautiful, huge hive that had zero human intervention.

11/29/2018 - Fun with animals in the winter. These two dummies wondered across a 40 acre field and decided at dusk it was too icy to come back for dinner. Miss Velvet had an ice skating escapade in a drainage area. So she decided they were staying put. Being the worried momma, I trudge across the 40 acre field at dusk and attempted to show them the safe way to cross even clearing a path so they could see the grass. Nope. They're spending the night outside I guess. Needless to say...its time to fence them out of the 40. This isn't even the back 40. Lol.

9/12/2018 - Trying some indoor ripening. This is maybe 3 rows of low hanging or somewhat ripening tomatoes. I literally ran out of buckets. So I am working on an experiment to see how long these will take to ripen. I didnt get my potatoes dug up since Mark's bees are nasty and decided to sting me. They are such jerks this year!!

8/22/2018 - So much beautiful produce. There is just something so fulfilling, even in the midst of sheer exhaustion, about growing your own food. We are overwhelmed with the sheer amount of healthy eats we get despite all our failures of a few varieties.
