Sucess! Goodfortune Market is home to Savannah's first street legal refrigerator, the COMMUNITY FRIDGE! Yay! We worked with the city to make sure we were code compliant and obeying heath standards. The fridge passed the test :)
The community fridge needs community support. The truth is, we cant do this alone. The utilities, daily maintenance, and stocking add up $$$. If you sponsor the fridge in any amount you are using your dollar as a vote, as a pledge of shared values. You are helping echo the message of prosperity through meal sharing.
The community fridge is a mutual aid food resource location that redistributes food, and mitigates food waste. Goodfortune Market hosts the fridge and that means keeping it clean, maintained, housed, restocked and plugged in.
Who uses the fridge? All kinds of people! Anyone can donate and anyone can receive. Its open 24/7 at 2413 Waters, two blocks north of Victory. Take what you need, leave what you can!
Older folks waiting between checks, young people in college on student loans, children that are home for the summer. Unhoused people, migrant people, working people, even the mail person! - Imagine what a difference it could make for a family to have an extra meal or two they didn't have to worry about.
