Taffer’s Browned Butter Bourbon is an 80-proof (40% ABV) flavored wh***ey created by hospitality expert and Bar Rescue host Jon Taffer. Developed in partnership with spirits giant Diageo, it features a blend of high-rye and low-rye Kentucky straight bourbons infused with natural browned butter flavoring.The idea was born at Taffer’s Tavern in Alpharetta, Georgia. Taffer experimented in the kitchen by using a sous-vide machine to infuse a block of hot browned butter into bourbon. After chilling the mixture, skimming the solidified fat off the top, and filtering it (a standard mixology technique known as fat washing), he created the house “Campfire Cocktail”. Because the drink became an instant bestseller, Taffer partnered with Diageo to create a shelf-stable version for commercial retail.
