A gentle reminder:

What goes up, must come down!

This is the second paper sky lantern/floating lantern we found on our farm. Yesterday we found one that was still whole, luckily it was in our front yard area. Unfortunately this one was found in a horse pasture, while the horses were out. I have to hope that its crumpled state is not because they tried to eat it. I have to hope even harder that if they did try to eat parts of it, that they were not successful. I will be closely watching the two that were in the pasture where this landed!

Animals getting into these things can be dangerous, and can lead to serious injury or even death. There are wires in these lanterns that can perforate if ingested, and the materials can cause blockages and a whole slew of problems.

I understand that these lanterns in particular are used a lot in times of mourning, but sadly they are not reaching where they are intended to go. If you are thinking about using this type of lantern, or anything that is released into the air, please reconsider 🙏🏻

2026 has been a rough year for us 😔

Last night we said goodbye to our best boy Never Fail Oliver 💔

Oliver was our first Nubian buck, and what a great first buck to have! I’m going to miss him a lot, his personality was always so sweet and goofy. He was so easy to handle and a gentle boy. I really couldn’t have asked for a better buck to get us started with our venture into the dairy goat world!

We have some daughters of his in our herd and I held onto one of his sons from last year when I knew his breeding days were likely over. I hope we can keep his memory alive through them! They are all so young, as was Oliver, so I am sad I could not prove him as a sire while he was still with us. Hopefully we can still do him justice though

Rest in peace sweet boy! Say hi to your girlfriend Chanterelle for us ❤️❤️

That’s a wrap on the Kiko breeding operation at Andley Farm 🎬

The last of our does; Java Cakes, Biscotti, Capri, and Fawn along with our buck Henry left for their new home this evening

I am happy to say that all of our Kiko and Kiko cross goats got to go in groups and stay with friends! It was a fun and rewarding experience to be involved with the breed, and I hope that they all do well in their new herds!

We planted wildflowers out front by our sign and now I’m thinking I may just need to plant the entire property 🤔
