Hello Grateful Edge community,

My name is Eric Whitfield, and I’m honored to introduce myself as the new owner and operator of Grateful Edge.

Many of you knew Dennis Morgan — my father-in-law, mentor, and the founder of Grateful Edge. Dennis taught me everything I know about sharpening knives, scissors, and all kinds of edged tools. Over the years, I had the privilege of working alongside him in the shop, helping with large orders and eventually collaborating with him to expand into mobile services at gun and knife shows across the Portland area and the Scappoose Farmers Market.

For 17 years, I learned not only the craft, but the care and dedication Dennis poured into every edge he sharpened. I’m proud to carry forward the Grateful Edge name and continue delivering the same quality, pride, and customer service that Dennis was known for.

My dad started this business as a hobby and eventually became his business. He took pride in every knife he sharpened. We are lucky that he taught my brother in law over the years. Who will be taking over Geateful Edge so want to get on the list for the opening post name below

It's with a heavy heart that I share the passing of our dad. His spirit was one-of-a-kind, always filling the room with his unique greetings and wisdom.

He'd often start with a cheerful greets and greetings! And end with his reminders to stay sharp and stay spaced out always encouraging us to live life the fully and freely. He embraced the journey, never shying away from its ups and downs, and often said " what a long, strange trip it's been." And what a trip it's truly was with him in our lives.

Runamuck, my dear dad. We'll keep you in our hearts and hold on to the love and lessons you left behind.

In lieu of flowers we have a go fund for final arrangements

We will be having a celebration of life later on watch for details
