As spring unfolds around us, take a moment to appreciate all of the natural wonders that follow. The BRT patio has become a refuge for several species of birds. Each year, a pair of Mourning Doves returns to the same nest along the top of the fence. Last year alone they fledged three pairs of offspring. She is already sitting on nestlings this week. Three separate Robins with nests in various spots in the rafters of the pavilions, fledged a total of 8 offspring last year. And, one of my favorites, Chimney Swifts, utilize a few of the unused chimneys of the Tavern, producing dozens of fledglings every season. If you enjoy the patio in late spring and summer, you can witness their evening flights as they circle and drop into the chimneys like leaves scattered on the wind. The world can be crazy, but that doesn't mean you can't appreciate the wonders around you. Cheers and Happy Spring!
