Wow! It’s been warm and muggy. Who would have thought a few weeks ago we would be trying to figure out ways to cool our flocks?
When we are not dealing with rain and/or snow our flock always have an option to be in coop, run or play yard. During summer and if it’s hot above 90 degrees or feels like that with humidity levels we turn on air conditioner. Other wise windows, fans an air vents work fine in coop.
For the run, we have windows, open screened doors, large fans and will be adding vented fans in walls later in month and of course the chickens favorite our cooling dust baths. We use peat moss, Eaton pet and pasture Revitalime and nesting herbs. There is always a line up to take a bath! lol
In the play yard we have shaded areas we have two sails that offer plenty of shade, an insulated waterer and a mister going.
