Today I wanted to shed some light one of our most important ingredients comes from:

Ted and Patty Hawley founded New York Craft Malt in 2012, transforming their fourth-generation family farm into a modern malthouse. What began as a way to breathe new life into the farm and take part in New York’s re-emerging craft brewing industry has grown into a business rooted in a deep appreciation for the land—and for the creativity and craftsmanship that transform grain into something truly special.

Since those early days, their product lineup has grown to include more than 80 distinct malted, roasted, flaked, and smoked grains. Their malthouse may look a little different than it did when they first started, but their passion for craft beer and spirits remains as strong as ever.

Through it all, their goal has stayed simple: to make every one of your malts “A Splendid Malt!”

September is Su***de Prevention & Awareness Month, and once again, we’re raising a glass in memory of our friend, Tom Kirkpatrick. 💚

Throughout the entire month of September, Ferdle Turtle Brewing Company will donate a portion of every pint of Droodle IPA sold to the Tom Kirkpatrick Love of History Scholarship Fund.

Tom was a graduate of Saratoga Springs High School, and this scholarship was created as a way to keep his memory and spirit alive while helping a Saratoga student take their next step after high school.

Last year, we were incredibly proud to award the scholarship to Jack Geckler to help support his future schooling. This year, we’re looking forward to doing it again and helping another student in Tom’s name.

Tom was our friend. He is missed. And we’re grateful to have a way to turn his memory into something that can continue to make a difference.

So throughout September, when you stop in and order a Droodle IPA, a portion of that pint will go directly toward this year’s scholarship.

Remember a friend. Help a student. Keep Tom’s spirit going. 🍻💚
