Editing to add: Unattended children will be given a bucket of candy, a can of Mountain Dew and an entire litter of stray kittens 😉
PSA!!!
Everyone PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE understand that while yes, this is our place of business, that it is also our home and our farm.
Our yard is our personal space!
Our horse barn and pastures are a private area with big bold red signs posted, saying it is a restricted area and employees only.
We restrict people from these places for both your safety and the safety of our animals.
We have stallions, that can and will potentially bite. We keep them away from the general public.
We have young horses that don't know any better yet and they will bite and kick.
We work really hard to establish manners and boundaries with our horses and when someone doesn't know what those rules are, it becomes a safety issue for everyone involved.
We normally keep our foals in the back where people can't see them but this year we had two painted foals born that have a lot of pink skin so we decided the best place to put them was in a pasture with a large shelter so they can get out of the sun. Unfortunately, this is the first pasture and everyone can see them when they come in.
Despite having a multitude of signs posted, people ignore the signs and go straight to these babies that we have worked hard to make friendly and have manners but now we have a c**t that bites really bad and a filly that is extremely head shy because people won't leave them alone.
It it our job to correct negative behavior in our foals to ensure it's done correctly, humanely and consistently.
Today we had someone drop their child off in our front yard to see the baby cow and our dogs just about lost it on the child, because this is our dog's personal area. The child wouldn't respond to me when I asked him who he was and if he was lost. He just walked back to the barn and I could only assume his parents were customers.
We have no issue sharing our animals with people. We are proud of what we have produced and love that you all love them too but PLEASE ask us first!!! We will happily share our critters with you under our supervision.
I don't know how else to nicely ask people to be respective of our personal spaces and our animals but I'm at my wits end on this one.
Posted are pictures of the signs that people continue to say "I didn't see them."
I apologize if this comes off as rude but we don't want anyone to get hurt and we don't need to get sued either.
