City of Scotland, Texas The City of Scotland, Texas is located in North Central Texas 15 miles south of Wichita Falls. Scotland was established in 1907 settled by German immigrants.

It is named for Henry S. Scott, an English King's consular and real estate agent from Toronto, Canada who purchased approximately 75,000 acres of what was once part of the O Circle Ikard Ranch in Archer County. The ranch had been sold by the Ikard family in 1889 to Clark & Plumb Company. Scott was able to acquire the ranch when the company faced financial insolvency. J.H. Meurer, a pioneer of Arch

er County and agent for Scott recognized the need for a village in order to utilize the thousands of acres of land available. Of the 5,760 acres set aside for Scotland, 450 was designated for town lots and the remainder for farming and ranching. In 1908, the Henrietta and Southwestern Railroad began service to Scotland. The train has been given credit for much of the initial growth of Scotland. In 1967, Lake Arrowhead was completed and Scotland became informally called the "Gateway to Lake Arrowhead". Scotland became incorporated in 1969 and the public water system was completed in 1972.

The City of Scotland's city wide cleanup will be held on Saturday, April 25th from 8am - 5pm or until the dumpsters are full. See the flyer below for all the details. Also, any metal is set aside and hauled to the recycling center.

The boil water order has been cancelled.

Due to a loss of water pressure, the City of Scotland has issued a Boil Order Notice effective immediately. All water used for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth or making ice should be boiled for at least one minute then cooled before use. This notice applies to all customers in the Scotland city proper and customers in outlying areas east, west and south of the water plant. Customers on the transmission line coming from Wichita Falls are not affected. We are working to resolve the issue and will notify Channel 6 and Channel 3 News when the notice is lifted. Scotland trash customers: Onsite will do their best to pick up your trash tomorrow but if they aren’t able they will pick it all up next Thursday. They are 3 days behind now and still unsure of the safety of all our roads here. Thank you for your patience and stay safe!
